The Birth Of Christ

Two travelers paused long, long ago
By the door of an ancient inn
Where they had sought food and lodging
But there was no place within

No place to rest their weary frames
Or to sit by a festive table
No refuge from the night at large
Except in a lowly stable

Joesph and Mary weary
From the dust of a long long trail
Entered this stable dreary
For Mary was in travail

There in a lowly cattle barn
Aloof from the rigors of the night
Mary suffered in silent pain
Yet her heart was full of delight

And so in the village of Bethlehem
Sometime before the morn
There in that lowly stable
The little Lord Jesus was born

Yes, here in that lowly stable
They welcomed the little stranger
They wrapped the child in garments warm
And laid him in a manger

Some shepherds came in from the hills
Where an angel had brought the news
They came to worship this holy child
The new born king of the Jews

Some wise men came with many gifts
Came from a place quite far
To the little town of Bethlehem
God gave them a guiding star

A star that traveled before them
Moved on by God's own grace
When it stopped high over Bethlehem
They knew they had found the place

And when they came into the house
Where lay the newborn king
On bended knees they worshiped him
And so let their praises ring

Now this is the story of Jesus
A story of Jesus' Birth
Born of the Virgin Mary
Is how he came to this earth

The scpriture does not tell us
On just what date he came
So they set December the Twenty-fifth
To praise His holy name

And that's when we celebrate Christmas
And spread the festive board
In the honor of the birthday
Of Jesus Christ our Lord

Christmas is a time to give
And praise the Lord on high
The wisemen came, the wisemen gave
So why not you and I
