We have weathered the storms
And the rigors of life
Throughout this old world
Of struggle and strife
And now we give thanks
To the powers that be
I am seventy-six
And she is seventy-three
And as time passes onward
We sit and we ponder
The things that we did
In the days that's gone yonder
Now it wasn't all roses
As we journeyed along
Sometimes it got rough
Everything would go wrong
Now we're not complaining
For the good times we had
When all put together
Would outweigh the bad
I had an old Ford
In which we would ride
We would lay the top down
Through the country we'd glide
If the day would be sunny
Then that was our gain
But woe unto us
If it started to rain
We'd get out the curtains
And put up the top
By the time we were finished
The rain it would stop
In my dreams I remember
And a picture I see
Of the fun that we had
In that old Model T
If that old Ford was here
And it maybe could talk
If it started to orate
I would sure talk a walk
Oh, the tales it could tell
Now I think with a grin
Of all the queer places
That old Ford had been
And I just wouldn't want
My offspring to know
Of all the odd places
That old Ford would go
Yes, if it could talk
I can say with a groan
There is some of those places
That I wouldn't want to know
But I can assure you
That no harm was done
We were just a young couple
That was out for some fun
We attended each party
To each dance we would go
And end up sometimes
At the old picture show
If our tempers would flair
And harsh words there would be
We would just take a ride
In that old Model T
When the wind in our faces
Had cooled us both down
We'd grin at each other
And head back for town
Not many a car
I have had since that day
A Durant and a Star
And a Stevens Duryea
And i had me a Willies
A regular gut shaker
A Graham. a Dort
And an old Studebaker
A Hudson, A Maxwell,
An Oakland, a Grey,
A Plymouth, a Dodge,
And of course, Chevrolet,
And there was a Falcon
A small sturdy hack
A little Nash Rambler
And an old Pontiac
Now these are just some
Of the cars I have had
Some, they were good
And some , they were bad
But the one we loved the best
My good spouse and me
Was that rambling old wreck
That Old Model T
